2022 Annual Report Now Online

The Alfred Deakin Institute for Citizenship and Globalisation (ADI) is delighted to announce the launch of our 2022 Annual Report.

This report reflects the incredible hard work and dedication of our team as we strive towards justice and inclusion powered by world-leading research.

Read our latest annual report to explore how ADI not only recalibrated its endeavours to support the post-pandemic recovery, but was also able to restore research funding to pre-pandemic levels – a testament to the relevance and quality of the scholarship undertaken at the institute.

“In 2022, this forward thinking and prescient approach yielded impressive results, with almost $6 million dollars in external competitive research income awarded across the Institute, including a record 12 new Australian Research Council grants. This represents our largest number of ARC grants in a single year. And the total funding amount almost matches our 2019 high of $6.1 million.”

Alfred Deakin Professor Fethi MansouriDirector, ADI.

The report demonstrates our publication strategy, which saw over 70% of our journal articles appear in high quality, Q1 ranked outlets while our books and monographs continued to find readers through major university and academic presses.

Also highlighted are the collective achievements of ADI. The Institute ranked ninth in humanities and social science research by the National Research Benchmarking Report 2022 and in the Australian’s Research Magazine 2022 we are top ranked in Australia in human migration, ethnic and cultural studies and Middle Eastern and Islamic studies as well as boast the country’s leading scholars in these core fields of research for the Institute.

These 2022 achievements give us a unique position and responsibility in humanities and social science research in order to generate the knowledge required to make sense of new and emerging challenges and to apply this to the benefit of communities locally, nationally and internationally.
