Disputes over Transboundary Waters and the potential of multi-track dialogues in South Asia.

Dr Douglas Hill (University of Otago)

This presentation outlines and analyses the range of alternative processes taking place that seek to contest closures in the Indus, Ganges and Brahmaputra basins. These include multi-track stakeholder dialogue processes and networks of People’s Movements, both of which seek to desecuritise water-sharing and create the potential for more just and sustainable water resource management in the future. Examples are drawn from extensive fieldwork with civil society organisations as well as the presenter’s own experience in multi-track stakeholder dialogues in South Asia.

The seminar will be held at Deakin Burwood (Level 2, Building BC, 221 Burwood Highway Burwood) and available via VMP.
