Panel:

  • Dr Peter Ferguson (Deakin University);

  • Dr Ruth Gamble (La Trobe University);

  • Professor John Powers (Deakin University); and

  • Dr Natalie Ralph (Deakin University)

Since the end of the Cold War, the remit of security studies has move far beyond traditional notions of state security to encompass a concern with the human and ecological dimensions of security and insecurity. The panelists in this seminar explore some new case studies and perspectives within the environmental security field, including the politics of water in Tibet and China; New Alternative Energy technologies, supply chains and corporate peace-building; and the emerging concept of ‘resilience’ in security discourse.

The seminar will be held at Deakin Burwood (Level 2, Building BC, 221 Burwood Highway Burwood) and available via VMP at Deakin Geelong (IC3.108).
