Nonproliferation and Nuclear Transfer Networks in the Middle East Flyer.png

Associate Professor Justin V. Hastings (University of Sydney)

The Middle East has long been a region of concern for nuclear proliferation. Coinciding with the fragile deal on Iran’s nuclear program, a number of other Middle Eastern countries are moving ahead with ambitious civil nuclear energy plans with potential proliferation issues. In this brief, we track the networks involved in moving radioactive isotopes, nuclear technology, and nuclear-related knowledge into, through, and out of Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia in order to find areas where the three countries can boost their non-proliferation efforts.

The seminar will be held at Deakin Burwood (Level 2, Building BC, 221 Burwood Highway Burwood) and available via VMP at Deakin Geelong (JB2.107).
