Professor Ariadne Vromen (University of Sydney)

How do young people participate in politics? What does their participation tell us about the future of politics?

Join us for a presentation by Professor Ariadne Vromen (University of Sydney), a leading expert on youth politics and political engagement. Using original data collected for The Civic network project in Australia, UK and USA, this talk shows that young people participate in politics, but their participation mostly now occurs online and reflects the rise of engaged citizenship norms

Professor Ariadne Vromen is Professor of Political Sociology in the Department of Government and International Relations at the University of Sydney. She has long-term interests in political participation and digital politics. Her new book, Digital Citizenship and Political Engagement, on the effects of digital campaigning organisation GetUp on advocacy politics, will be published later this year. Her new project, Crowdsourcing Political Engagement, looks at the rise and effects of online petitioning and crowdfunding.
