Funding Success – Diarmaid Harkin, Mary Iliadis and Matthew Clarke
Diarmaid Harkin, Mary Iliadis and Matthew Clarke from SHSS/ADI have secured funding from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade for their exciting new project.
We are delighted to announce that Diarmaid Harkin, Mary Iliadis and Matthew Clarke from SHSS/ADI and Karen Bentley from WESNET have secured $420,863 from the Cyber Affairs and Critical Technology Branch of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade for the project titled “Understanding Technology-Facilitated Domestic Violence in the Pacific and Building Support Services for Victim-Survivors”.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
This project will build understandings of the prevalence, nature, and impacts of technology-facilitated domestic violence in Fiji, Tonga and Vanuatu. It will achieve this by redeploying the National Survey of Technology Abuse and Domestic Violence in Australia (WESNET) into a Pacific context. The survey analysis will inform direct engagement with domestic violence support workers, local law enforcement, and policy makers to provide training and knowledge-sharing around the technological aspects of domestic violence. The aim is to optimise long-term support services for victim-survivors by addressing front-line responses, national policy frameworks, law enforcement strategy, and the necessary engagement with tech companies.
