ADI Director, Professor Fethi Mansouri, was today named one of 38 new fellows elected this year to the Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia.
Since its establishment in 1971, the Academy has championed excellence in social sciences and provides evidence-based advice on a range of social policy issues. Its annual election of new fellows acknowledges outstanding contributions to social science research or practice in Australia.
“This is more than a personal honour but rather a responsibility to continue research that has inherent academic excellence and intrinsic social value to communities locally, nationally and globally,” Professor Mansouri said of his election, which acknowledges his vast contribution to diversity, migration and intercultural studies. This fellowship also recognises his contribution to public discourse and input into policy-making and social affairs, through his membership of numerous international agencies, governmental, academic and community organisations advisory boards.
A video introducing the newly elected Academy Fellows is available here.
An online event featuring brief presentations from each of the new fellows will be livestreamed on Facebook on 25 November, 4:30 – 7:00pm AEDT. More information here.
