The Australian Research Council (ARC) awards funding to only the highest quality research in Australia through the National Competitive Grants Program. Institute members currently lead 15 ARC-funded projects which includes two Future Fellowships, six Discovery Projects, Deakin University’s first Discovery Indigenous Project and six Discovery Early Career Researcher Awards (DECRAs). Our members are also investigators on a further four ARC-funded projects.
The Future Fellowships scheme supports research in areas of critical national importance by giving outstanding researchers incentives to conduct their research in Australia. The aim of the Future Fellowships scheme is to attract and retain the best and brightest mid-career researchers.
The Discovery Early Career Researcher Awards (DECRA) Fellowships support and advance promising early career researchers in areas of national importance. They enhance opportunities for diverse career pathways, enabling research and research training in high-quality and supportive environments.
The Discovery Projects scheme supports excellent basic and applied research and expands Australia's knowledge base and research capability. Discovery Projects enhance international collaboration in research by fostering international competitiveness of Australian research.
