Youth as Global Citizens in Multicultural Societies
The Youth as Global Citizens in Multicultural Societies Research Project will explore young peoples' experiences, opportunities and challenges of living in a culturally diverse and global society. It also aims to explore intercultural relationships and the use of digital technologies to understand what it means to be a locally connected, global citizen.
The project will specifically explore intercultural understanding as a key dimension of strategies to foster social cohesion, belonging and global citizenship. Employing youth led research methods, the project will aim to generate understandings of how multicultural youth develop and mobilise intercultural capital and global citizenship ethics whilst navigating a range of everyday social experiences and structural settings.
The project's findings will contribute meaningfully to the Victorian Government's efforts around building social cohesion, community resilience and countering radicalisation in all its forms.
This project is funded by the Department of Premier and Cabinet, Government of Victoria.
