Three new PhD scholarship opportunities at the Institute

We have scholarship opportunities available for five exceptional doctoral researchers to work alongside a number of our most senior research staff.
ADI Director, Professor Fethi Mansouri, is accepting applications for two scholarship opportunities for four PhD candidates tied to current research projects.
The first, Does Intercultural Dialogue work in Fragile Contexts?, is offered as part of the Deakin-Coventry cotutelle program where the student is enrolled at both Deakin University and Coventry University (UK). The PhD candidates will be supervised by both Professor Mansouri and Dr Serena Hussain (Coventry University), offering international research experience undertaken at both Universities with a tailored program.
The second scholarship, titled Migrant Youth, Multiculturalism and Human Mobility, is part of an Australia Research Council project led by Professor Mansouri in collaboration with colleagues in Canada and the UK.
The ARC project, A Transcultural Approach to Belonging and Engagement among Migrant Youth, aims to map the experiences of migrant youth in assessing and developing trans-cultural capital in three highly-diverse urban contexts – Melbourne, Birmingham and Toronto.

Additionally, a fifth PhD scholarship opportunity supervised by Professor Ihsan Yilmaz, Conspiracy Theories and the Propogation of Misinformation in the Muslim World is open to applications.
The successful student will conduct research on the dynamics and critical elements involved in effective strategic communication campaigns to counter conspiracy theories and the propagation of misinformation (‘fake news’) in the Muslim world.
As the candidate will be supervised by Professor Yilmaz, Professor Greg Barton and Dr Matteo Vergani, whose research strengths are concerned with the contexts of Indonesia and Turkey, the candidate is strongly encouraged to undertake research in the contexts of these countries.
