Welcome Professor Bulent (Hass) Dellal AO

ADI is pleased to announce that Prof Bulent (Hass) Dellal AO has joined the institute as an Adjunct Professor.

ADI is pleased to announce that Prof Bulent (Hass) Dellal AO has been appointed as an Adjunct Professor at the Institute.

Prof Dellal has long been an important part of ADI, having been Chair of the ADI Advisory Board for the last 5 years and a part of several of ADI’s networks.

“I am honoured to have been awarded this prestigious position of Adjunct Professor with Deakin University,” Prof Dellal said, “I have had a long and productive working relationship with Deakin University over many years, particularly through my position as Executive Director of the Australian Multicultural Foundation (AMF) and as a consortium member of the newly established Centre for Resilient and Inclusive Societies (CRIS), a member of the South East Asian Network of Civil Society Organizations (SEAN-CO) and Chair of ADI’s Advisory Board.”

For the last three years, Prof Dellal has been Chair of SBS, concluding ten years of service on that board. He has tirelessly worked towards creating a healthy multicultural society in Australia, going back to 1989 when he was appointed founding Executive Director of the AMF.

Prof Dellal’s interests and experience are strongly aligned with the work of ADI, he has served as Special Adviser to the Australasian Police Multicultural Advisory Bureau by the Conference of Commissioners of Police, Australasia and the South West Pacific Region. He has also contributed to countless important reports, including the Managing Cultural Diversity in the Workplace manual the Religion, Cultural Diversity and Safeguarding Australia Report 2004; the Australian Human Rights Commission’s Freedom of Religion and Belief in the 21st Century; and the Lexicon of Terrorism for the Commonwealth Government, Victorian Government and Victoria Police

“This role will provide me a greater opportunity to be an ambassador and advocate, nationally and internationally for the work of ADI in building cohesive societies through research, program development and social policy.”
